Securing Your Account

Here is the revised list of 9 recommendations to improve the security of your Protocol account:

  1. Use a unique email address and password for your account.

To create a strong password, consider using a password manager like LastPass or KeePass. This can help you easily keep track of your passwords and create complex, secure passwords.

  1. Enable 2FA on your Protocol account.

This adds an extra layer of protection to your account in case your password is compromised.

  1. Secure your email account and phone, and use PGP.

Enable fingerprint or passcode lock on your phone, use a secure email provider, and use 2FA for your email account. Whenever possible, use PGP encryption.

  1. Secure your computer.

Avoid installing unnecessary software or software from untrusted developers on your computer. If possible, consider using a dedicated computer or partition for Protocol and trading. We recommend using Linux, Chrome, a password manager plugin, and no other software.

  1. Subscribe to a good antivirus software and keep it updated.

  1. Secure your internet connection.

Always use a wired connection when possible. If you must use WiFi, consider routing your traffic through a VPN.

Please note that these tips are not exhaustive. In addition to the above recommendations, we encourage you to stay vigilant and educate yourself further on general online security.
